The Signature at MGM Grand Las Vegas Honored for Diversity Leadership

Las Vegas, NV (Mar. 17, 2009) – The Signature at MGM Grand has been presented with two coveted awards for leadership in its diversity initiative and business practices.

The Southern Nevada Human Resources Association (SNHRA) honored The Signature with its top "OYA Award" and a second award in its "Strategic Planning" category at the 2009 SNHRA Diversity Awards Luncheon held March 10 at Gold Coast Casino & Hotel.

The Signature prevailed over six finalists for the "OYA Award", which is bestowed upon the company that exhibits the highest level of commitment to diversity practices in its day-to-day business environment. Oya (pronounced Oh-yah) is the Goddess of Change and is the Yoruban Goddess of weather. She is also one of the most powerful of Brazilian Macumba deities.

The luxury all-suite, non-gaming hotel also took home SNHRA's "Strategic Planning" award for reaching employees at all levels of the property with its diversity message.

"The diversity initiative at The Signature is truly ingrained in our work environment and has established a sense of community among our employees and guests," said Frederic Luvisutto, Vice President of The Signature. "Providing the ultimate Las Vegas experience relies heavily upon our employees' understanding and acceptance of others."

Among its accomplishments, The Signature has graduated more than 500 employees from its diversity training programs, and aims to enroll the remainder of its 768 employees in diversity training by the end of 2009. The property sponsors a unique "Diversity Day" employee event each month to reinforce cross-cultural relations; teaches English to employees to help enhance their guest and co-worker communication skills, and encourages employee volunteer opportunities to bridge employees' personal goals with their professional goals.

The Signature opened in June 2006 and has 576 suites in each of its three towers. The property has garnered the Mobil Four-Star Award (2009); TripAdvisor's 2009 Travelers' Choice Awards - Top 10 Best Hotels for Romance (U.S.); TripAdvisor's 2008 Travelers' Choice Awards - the No. 1 "Best Luxury Hotel in the U.S."; and among TripAdvisor's "Top 100 Best Luxury Hotels in the World" and "Best Hotels in the World's 25 Most Popular Destinations". It also received the Expedia® Insiders' Select™ 2008 Awards - voted among top one percent of destination resorts worldwide; and the Orbitz® 2008 "Best in Stay" Award - voted best for Las Vegas business travelers.

Additionally, The Signature was recently awarded the Las Vegas Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) 2008 "Tribute to Learning Award" in the diversity category. The award spotlighted The Signature for its creativity, innovation and futuristic approaches to encouraging diversity awareness.
