MGM MIRAGE RECEIVES THE "OSCAR" OF DIVERSITY AWARDS
Company is the only Corporation in Nevada to Receive National Recognition for Diversity Culture

Las Vegas, NV (Mar. 17, 2009) – MGM MIRAGE is the only Company in Nevada, and one of only 50 companies in the United States to be recognized for its commitment to diversity best practices.

MGM MIRAGE was ranked #19 on the 2009 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity®, joining well-known businesses such as American Express, Coca-Cola and Xerox on the prestigious roll of honor. The annual survey evaluated corporate diversity performance in 2008.

MGM MIRAGE was previously named to the list in 2006 and 2007, and was recognized by DiversityInc as a "Noteworthy Company" in its 2008 awards contest. It is one of only two hospitality companies to be included on this year's "Top 50" list.

DiversityInc is the nation's leading publication on diversity and business. Its annual "Top 50" competition is regarded as the most important and credible measure of corporate diversity performance.

"This award illustrates our solid and ongoing commitment to diversity best practices in every aspect of our business operations," said Punam Mathur, MGM MIRAGE Senior Vice President of Corporate Diversity and Community Relations. "We have been singled out for this honor because employees at all levels of our Company - from our front-line service employees to our top-ranking executives - charismatically embrace diversity principles and have integrated these standards into their everyday interactions with our guests, co-workers, and the communities in which they serve."

The DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® list was announced live at a function attended by more than 300 corporate executives in New York City on March 12. Reflecting dramatically increased attention to diversity management among progressive companies, a total 401 applications were received -- up 14 percent from the number of entries submitted last year.

The list covers 19 industries ranging from small regional companies to global giants. Applicants complete an intensely detailed, analytic survey with more than 200 questions measuring CEO Commitment, Human Capital, Corporate and Organizational Communications, and Supplier Diversity.

Judges commented: "MGM MIRAGE's strong effort to create an inclusive work force, including innovative diversity training and employee councils, has propelled this gaming company back onto the list. Its workforce mirrors the diversity of its customer base."

They continued with more accolades: "MGM MIRAGE also has put great effort into its supplier-diversity program. MGM MIRAGE also has excellent diversity training. Its Champions program was the first in-depth educational program of its kind in the gaming industry."

The MGM MIRAGE work force is 30.3 percent Latino, 14.9 percent Asian and 12.1 percent Black. Managers are 13.9 percent Latino, 10.3 percent Black and 10 percent Asian, as well as 45.2 percent women. More than 6,500 employees have completed the Company's formal Diversity Training program.

During 2007 (latest figures available), MGM MIRAGE spent more than $254 million in biddable goods and services with minority-, women- and disadvantaged-owned business enterprises (MWDBEs). The Company has a purchasing division dedicated exclusively to supplier diversity.

The company has external and internal diversity councils, with the external council chaired by the 23rd U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman.

The MGM MIRAGE Diversity Initiative was launched in 2000.
